Behind the Scenes
Rescuing Da Vinci
Munich, Germany
Alt Aussie Exterior

Both buildings that housed Hitler’s office and the Nazi Party Headquarters remarkably survived the war intact. The Nazi Party Headquarters building was designated by Monuments Officer Capt. James Rorimer to become the Munich Collecting Point. Today it is home to the National Graphic Collection, located just south of the Helden Temple remains on Meiserstrasse in Königsplatz.

Shortly after Allied Forces took control of Munich, they removed the Nazi Party Eagles from the façade of both buildings and destroyed them.

However, even today it is possible to see the patched areas of the façade above both balconies where there were once bolts that affixed the Nazi Party Eagles.
